There is a saying in poker when the card and ships are against you. You need to go all in and create momentum. The political game is no different and that is the move former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has been dealt. He has struggled due to not only trailing in polls but is also low on cash. Pawlenty is going all in on Iowa, where the vote could spell the end of the campaign. The all in part is a 15-day Iowa campaign stretch a month before the state contest. The beginning of the season starts with the Iowa Republican Party’s Aug. 13 straw polls is now the sole focus six months before the state’s leadoff presidential caucuses. He has the largest staff of any candidate for Iowa’s caucuses and they have their work to do as he has only registered support from just 6 percent of likely GOP caucus-goers. The two-week tour brings a new television ad and mailbox brochures all aimed at building support for the straw poll. He has brought in Sarah Huckabee, the daughter of 2008 caucus winner Mike Huckabee, as an adviser. Using another poker analogy from Kenny Rogers know when to walk away and know when to run the latest poll of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire shows Romney with 35 percent of the vote and Pawlenty with just 3 percent.
