We do like what we see from Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin and it is early but he is doing everything right. We see in Iowa he rides a Harley-Davidson Road King for a celebration of motorcycles and Iowa pork. This is about as American as it can get. This is not fake John Kerry pretending to get a hunting license or President Barack Obama and sports teams he loved all his life without being able to name a single player. This is who this guy is and Walker is seizing upon it. Moving away from the other Republican presidential hopefuls he will run with Senator Joni Ernst, Iowa’s most popular Republican. Walker needs this and hope it plays to a bigger crowd than just Iowa as his early burst in national polls has regressed but still enjoys a significant lead in Iowa. The Midwestern charm and sensibilities he carries himself with are key to the appeal across a wide ideological groups of Republicans. All eyes are focusing on the first Republican debate, in Ohio on Aug. 6, where he is sure to be a target for the nine other candidates on stage. Then it is the Boone straw poll as Iowa advisers declined to say if he would participate in the straw poll, because he has yet to declare his candidacy. This is only a formality and you can expect announcement late this month or early July.
